Mount your anemometers and wind vanes on NRG TallTowers™ according to industry best practices.
DETAILS
Our most popular boom, the 2.4m Tubular Boom mounts sensors away from NRG TallTowers to minimize tower-induced flow distortions. The sensor extension mounts anemometers and wind vanes at a minimum of 20 boom diameters above the horizontal arm, which meets industry IEC 61400-12-1:2017 recommendations for tower and boom offset distances. This boom is still compact enough to ship via UPS—maximizing convenience and affordability.
Older versions of this boom had a shorter sensor rise—please contact our sales team to inquire about legacy boom options if you need to match your current equipment.
There are five different 2.4m Tubular Boom kits:
- #14025 includes one boom with hardware to mount one NRG S1 Anemometer right out of the box.
- #14026 is identical but comes with two booms instead of one for convenience.
- #4214 includes one boom with hardware to mount one NRG Class 1 Anemometer, NRG 40C Anemometer, NRG 40H Anemometer, NRG 200M Wind Vane, or NRG 200P Wind Vane right out of the box.
- #4159 is identical but comes with two booms instead of one for convenience.
- #4478 is a single boom with an adapter for mounting one WindSensor P2546-OPR Anemometer. To mount the Thies First Class Advanced Anemometer, use this boom and simply add a Thies Adapter (#7640).
The robust, dual-beam support structure is made from galvanized steel to resist corrosion. Booms come with a self-aligning mounting bracket that is easily hose-clamped to the tower, ensuring that the sensor maintains a 90 degree vertical orientation.
